Letters From Tonia

Trips, Community, and Sports

Hello Bethany Family,

Wonderful events are taking place on campus this month. March is filled with travel, community events, and sports to name a few. We begin the month with our annual Open House on Thursday, March 2nd
.
The theme is ‘Bethany School Glows After Dark’. Please mark your calendar for this special evening. Beginning at 6pm you will be able to come peruse the entire campus and see first-hand how we ‘Shine’ academically, socially and Spiritually. Bring a family or friend to this event and possibly receive a referral credit. Please enter through the courtyard.

Mrs. Lovers and her 5th grade students (and parents) will kick off our first series of educational excursions taking on the Grand Canyon. March 6th – 9th they will travel up the I-15 with stops to the Calico Silver Mining Ghost Town, stop at the Hoover Dam, see the Meteor Crater, check out the Deer Farm in Flagstaff that houses exotic animals, while headed to the Grand Canyon. Before arriving home, they will take a Pink Jeep tour located in the red rock hills of Sedona Arizona.

Mrs. Arlene Gale, our Super She-ro Librarian, is gearing up for the Scholastic Book Fair. The theme this year is ‘Super Readers Have Super Powers’. Beginning March 10th – 17th everyone will be able to visit the fair and purchase books for themselves and books from their teacher’s wish list. There will be dress up spirit days during the week to promote the fair. More information to come.

‘Food Truck/Movie Night’ is back again and better than ever. Friday, March 10th beginning at 5:30pm, bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a fun evening eating and watching a movie under the stars on our campus. There will be many trucks to choose from and the Student Council will be selling items as well. Please support the Student Council (or make a donation) as they raise money for the Disney Leadership Conference to be held in April. Invite a friend and I will see you there.

March 13th – 16th is Dad’s Read-In week on our preschool campus. As we celebrate Dr. Seuss this month, Dad’s make sure to sign-up and read one of the many classics in your child’s preschool/pre-k classroom. We are celebrating all Dads, Friday, March 17th beginning at 7:45am at Dad’s Donut Day & Chapel. All Dads are welcome to enjoy a morning of donuts, coffee, and juice. There will be photo opportunities and then a fun Chapel.

The Spelling Bee is back! Tuesday, March 21st students who made the finals will compete in the annual Spelling Bee. This year Bethany will host Santa Fe Springs Christian School. This is an all-day event with more information to come. Parents, please come and encourage our students as they represent Bethany.

On Wednesday, March 22nd our 8th grade students will take a red eye to the East Coast to partner experiences with curriculum learning. Our students will visit Boston, New York City, Gettysburg, the Amish community, and Washington, DC – just to name a few. While on this trip Bethany has the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington National Cemetery. There is much to cover in eight days. It is one of my favorite trips.

While the 8th graders are away, 6th and 7th grade students will head to Catalina Island for a study in marine biology through the company Land & Sea. From March 27th – 29th our students will participate in activities that are the perfect combination of marine science, ocean adventure, and summer camp fun.

We will end the month with the annual Preschool Spring Sing. Friday, March 31st at 6:30pm our wonderful preschool/pre-k students will sing and perform in costume giving praise to our Lord. Come support our future leaders. They give it their all and they are super cute.

Bethany Bulldog Athletics is better than ever! Parents, did you know that our girls’ varsity basketball team is undefeated? Not to mention the boys ‘B’ basketball team has only one loss. Last year was definitely a rebuilding year and we are reaping the benefits of not giving up. ‘Don’t complain, be the difference!’ Big “Thanks!” to Coach Dorsey and his team Duke, Jason, and Kacie.

Speaking of basketball, there are only 9 tickets left for the final L.A. Clippers vs L.A. Lakers game. Big “Thanks!” to Amy Coffey and Edna Beck.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and becoming informed with the events of March. Please pray for student, staff and parent safety during the off campus trips. Also, don’t forget to save the dates mentioned herein.

It’s a great time to be a Bulldog.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Tonia

Principal
