Letters From Tonia

The campus is filled with laughter, learning and cleaning in between.

Hello Bethany Family,

We have completed our first full week of school.  The campus is filled with laughter, learning and cleaning in between.  I am convinced Bethany School has the finest students in Southern California.  I am reacquainting myself with returning students and meeting so many new faces.  They are all so different and “fearfully and wonderfully made.”  It is my goal that every student feels comfortable considering the unique changes imposed on them during this time in their lives and in our world.  To all of the students in Bethany’s Distance Learning program, a special ‘virtual welcome’ to you.

COVID-19

Parents please make sure to check your child for COVID-19 like symptoms every morning prior to arriving on campus.  If your child demonstrates any of the following symptoms, please have them see their Pediatrician and they must remain at home;

  • Severe coughing
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Feeling nausea
  • Loss of taste
  • Diarrhea
  • Colored discharge

Every morning when your child arrives on campus he/she will receive a second screening which includes a temperature check, hand sanitizer and a disposable mask if needed.  The staff and I are doing our part by going above and beyond to ensure the safety of everyone on campus to every extent feasible.

If a student becomes exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you must contact your child’s Pediatrician, inform the school and then you are required to quarantine your child for 14 days. We will send home your child’s school work so that he/she can remain on task.  Per the CDC, the classroom of the exposed child will be ventilated and cleaned, but will remain open.  You will receive a letter stating someone from your child’s classroom has been exposed.

If a student contracts COVID-19, the entire classroom must be closed and all students must quarantine for 14 days.  Homework packets will be sent home for continued learning and your child must be tested and cleared before returning to school.

AM & PM EXTENDED DAYCARE

Daycare has resumed.  AM Daycare is from 6:30-8:30am and PM Daycare is from 3:30-6pm.  There is an additional fee for Daycare.  Your tuition covers the hours of 8-3:30pm.

Daily at 3:30pm all remaining students will have their temperature taken, receive a new mask if needed and new cohorts will be established for extended care until 6pm.

Parents, although this service is available and we are doing our best to keep every child safe, picking up your K-5th grader at 3pm and picking up your middle schooler at 3:30pm is optimum.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT (BTSN)

This year BTSN will be virtual beginning tonight, Monday evening at 6pm.  In compliance to keep foot traffic on campus minimalized you will receive a video to review from me and your child’s teacher(s).  Please make sure to check MySchoolWorx and/or your email for information about your virtual BTSN.

PICTURE DAY(S)

Your child should have received and brought home a packet from In His Image Photography.  Pictures are being taken today and Tuesday.  Pictures taken today in the Bethany polo will appear in the yearbook.  On Tuesday, your child is able to wear free dress and you are able to purchase these pictures.  If you would like to order a picture of your child in his/her uniform simply fill out the packet or go online and place your order.

COLOR RUN/COLOR GRILL

Your child should have brought home information about this year’s Color Run.  We are excited to have every student participate and the goal is for each student to raise $250.00 (or more) for Bethany School.  You are also encouraged to reach out for corporate community donations.  Monies raised from the fundraiser will go towards revamping the preschool playground, advancing technology for Elementary/Middle School classrooms and student services.

The Color Run will be held on Friday, November 6th.  This day is filled with excitement and fun for all.  As you may be aware this is our one and only major fundraiser where we require every family to participate.  Again, you should have received this information by now.  If not please stop by the office for a packet and/or additional forms for corporate donations.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Last Friday, September 18th was the first day of the Color Run Grill.  Have you purchased a lunch for your child?  Beef hotdog lunches will be available for the next five Fridays.  All funds received from the Grill will go towards prizes and preparation of the Color Run.  We have ‘cleared’ volunteer helpers who will prepare and serve food to the students and staff.

CHAPEL

Weekly Chapel at Bethany School has always been such a pleasant time for the entire school to come together and praise God through singing and hearing scriptures.  Unfortunately this year we will not be able to gather.  Until we are able to convene again Donna Morici, Technology Teacher, has prepared weekly interactive Chapel services and every grade level is able to participate in their own classrooms.  Although we are praising God separately, He hears us corporately, Amen!

LUNCH BENCHES

Bethany School was blessed to receive assistance from Bethany Church members Cathy Nyberg, Ernestine Green and our own Edna Beck.  These remarkable ladies made dividers for the lunch benches to further the safety of our students.  The students were delighted to be able to sit next to their friends, eat lunch and remain safe.  A big shout out to Mrs. Smoot’s 1st grade class for their donation towards the dividers.

UNIFORM REMINDER

Students are required to wear a Bethany Polo Shirt every day, with the exception of Thursdays where they can wear a Bethany Spirit Shirt. We also have designated Spirit Days (related to activities, i.e. Red Ribbon Week in October where students can wear and red shirt and jeans) with instructions on what to wear scattered throughout the year.

Parents, if you have a special prayer request please email me directly or your child’s teacher and we will pray for you. We are here to be of service to you.  I ask that you continue to pray for our campus and the safety of every student, employee and essential worker.

Again, thank you for making Bethany School your school of choice.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Tonia Hill, M.A.

Principal
