Hello Bethany Families!

We are coming to the close of our first full month in school. So much has happened; Back To School Night, Community Kick Off, after school clubs, Bulldog sports are doing well, and a few parent-teacher meetings have taken place to ensure our students are learning and growing in the right direction. Our preschool had its first Fruit of the Spirit Awards Chapel, whoo-hoo! As we begin to settle into the new year, I would ask that you help your students build effective habits that will help them be successful at Bethany School. Below are a few suggestions.

• The CDC, Center for Disease Control, recommends children through age 14 receive between 9 to 12 hours of sleep every night. A good night’s rest helps with overall health and wellness, allows students to stay focused, and improves concentration and academic performance. www.cdc.gov
• Prep all items needed for school the night before. This would include uniform prep, lunch prep, water bottle ready, and completed homework packed and ready. This should ensure a smoother transition for your morning departure. Lastly, please don’t forget your instrument for those students who take music.
• Smooth transitions in the morning allow safe travels to Bethany, enabling you to arrive and drop off before 8:15AM. We are a locked campus and all gates are locked after 8:15am. If you arrive after this time, you are considered late and will need to check in through the main office.
• Parents, if you did not know, K-8 students can arrive as early as 7:45 AM and not be charged daycare fees.

Safety is a number one priority. I have noticed some parents driving fast down the service road dropping off preschool students or zipping into the church parking lot to drop off K-8 students. Parents, please slow down! Reminder that the street in front of the school is a one way street. You cannot enter from the North Side. Thank you in advance for partnering with us for the safety of all students.

The Color Run kick off has begun and you guys are amazing. Donations are coming in and we will begin improvements on our well-used campus. We are still accepting corporate donations. Your business will receive advertisement along the Los Coyotes Diagonal gate, at every school event, weekly chapels and in the school yearbook for an entire year. Once all monies are collected, PTF President Mrs. Natalie Robideaux will announce improvements for this school year. Let’s go!

We are pleased to offer a Parents’ Night Out on Friday, October 10th from 6:00–9:00pm. Students will be supervised while participating in engaging games, crafts, and activities, providing parents with an opportunity to enjoy a night out. Space is limited; registration is available in the School Office.

Join us as we celebrate Red Ribbon Week, October 20–24! This special week is dedicated to promoting healthy choices and living drug-free. Each day will feature fun activities, dress-up themes, and important reminders about making positive decisions. We’ll also be welcoming community helpers to campus and hosting special assemblies throughout the week to inspire and encourage our students. Let’s come together as a school community to show our commitment to a safe, healthy, and drug-free lifestyle!

 Bulldog Spotlight: Sara Mills, Dillon Ball and Julia Corvalan
 Sara Mills teaches kindergarten and has been an educator for 17 years. She is a wife and mom. Mrs. Mills lays a strong foundation for our Kinders by teaching them how to be students.  Dillon Ball is new to Bethany this year and teaches Middle School Language Arts. He has been in education for 2 years and just earned his MA from Biola’s Talbot School of Theology. Mr. Ball also teaches enrichment courses, including Film Studies and Fine Arts. His favorite snacks are Skittles and Nerds gummy clusters. Welcome to Bethany School!

 Julia Corvalan is an Instructional Aide for both 5th grade classrooms. Did you know she is an alumnus of Bethany School? She attended Bethany from 2nd through 6th grade. Miss Corvalan is pursuing a teaching career and you will find her subbing in classrooms from time to time. She likes hiking, crocheting and knitting. We are glad to have her here.

Don’t forget to join us in Chapel every Friday at 8:30AM as we continue to learn what it means to be Born Again. Check in through the office for a visitor’s badge.
