75th Diamond Year!
Dear Bethany Family,
I want to welcome you to the beginning of a memorable school year. Bethany School is celebrating 75 years of Christian Education in the community, and I could not be prouder. It is our diamond year! My staff and I are excited to serve each child academically, socially and spiritually. Having your child enrolled at Bethany reaffirms our calling to education. It is going to be a great year.
First Day of School
All parents, preschool through 8th grade, are welcome to join us on the first day of school Thursday, September 8th. All students must be on campus by 8am. You are welcome on campus to join us for pledges, sing ‘God Bless America’ and then exit the campus.
Elementary and Middle School will be dismissed at 2pm on this day and must be picked up by 2:30pm so as not to incur a late pick up fee. There is no daycare on the first day of school for elementary.
Preschool will open at 6:30am, all students must be on campus by 8am and the daily pick-up time is 6pm. Parents please remember to bring an extra change of clothing to remain in your child’s cubby throughout the year and bring a lunch daily for your child. Preschool does not participate in the lunch program, only elementary and middle school.
Parents, if you have students on both sides of campus you are now able to park your car and walk through campus to pick up your children beginning at 3pm. If you need to pick up your child prior to 3pm you must come to the front office.
Daycare
Elementary and middle school students are dismissed at 2pm every Thursday throughout the school year. For the remainder of the school year your child is able to stay on campus Monday through Friday until 3:30pm unless he/she is enrolled in an afterschool club. At 3:30pm your child will automatically be checked into PM Daycare, you do not have to sign up in advance. Daycare begins Friday, September 9th. AM Daycare is from 6:30-8am and PM Daycare is from 3:30-6pm. A late pick up fee of $45 begins at 6:01pm.
New to Daycare this year for elementary and middle school; if you use daycare at any time you will automatically be charged from the account of your choice (credit card or checking account). There is a form you must fill out in order to use AM or PM daycare. This form is in your packet from the Orientation or you can pick up one in the main office.
Again, we must have the form for payment on file in the office in order for your child to participate. The cost of daycare is $10 per hour in $5 half hour incremental charges.
Afterschool Programs
There are great programs available this year at Bethany that are offered for a fee.
- For preschool we offer Webby Dance and Fitness 4 All. These two programs are “pull-out” programs during the day.
- For elementary/middle school we offer Spanish Club, Downbeat Music! An Enrichment Club, All Things Science, Webby Dance, Fitness 4 All, Chess Wizards, and more.
If you are interested in any of the clubs and you do not have a flyer, please come into the main office for more information. Additionally, if your child is in 3rd through 8th grade, your child is eligible to try-out for Bethany Bulldog Sports. The sports program includes volleyball, JV & Varsity football and JV & Varsity basketball. Please have your child see the Athletic Director, Mr. Al Dorsey, for more information.
New To Bethany
To celebrate our 75th year, Bethany is incorporating music into the school curriculum. Parents, this is separate from the afterschool music program and is included in your monthly tuition. Instruments for in class instruction are below;
- Kindergarten-2nd Grade: Ukulele
- 3rd Grade: Violin
- 4th-8th Grade: Various Instruments (Click here to fill out the music form)
Additionally, Bethany is incorporating Spanish into the school curriculum. Parents, this is separate from the after school Spanish Club.
If you want your child to have an in-depth study of a musical instrument or further their learning in Spanish, you have the option to sign them up for the after school program for a separate fee. If not, he or she will receive both music and Spanish in their weekly curriculum.
Third through Eighth Grade parents, if you do not want your child to “share” an instrument you will be able to rent his/her instrument for the year. More information to come at Back To School Night – Monday, September 12th beginning at 6:30pm. We will meet in the church.
Lastly I am excited to share that preschool will have Spanish incorporated into their week as well.
