Dear Families & Staff,

Just two years ago our world was sent reeling with an unprecedented unknown virus, COVID-19.
Our lives were severely disrupted and forever changed from this pandemic. Many of our Bethany
families experienced illness and loss of loved ones due to this virus. It was a difficult emotional
time.

When COVID-19 impacted schools my staff and I prayed and even cried, but we rolled up our
sleeves, made the necessary adjustments and we moved forward in faith. We selflessly put our
students first and after being shut down for only 13 weeks, Bethany School reopened its doors
and never looked back! My staff and I immediately understood the long term ramifications of
being closed and knew this was not in the best interest of our students. We followed the
protocols and mandates, but we remained open and our students are better for it. Parents we
could not have done this without you. I am so grateful you remained loyal during such uncharted
territory. “Thank you.”

Pursuant to the California Department of Health and Human Services along with the Long Beach
Department of Public Health, effective March 12, 2022 wearing masks to school is no longer a
‘mandate‘ but a ‘recommendation’. Bethany School will honor this revision. I understand this
change will be well received by some and a continued concern for others. The tools we have
now acquired as a church, school and staff to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 are well
established. Parents I ask that you continue to prescreen your child every morning and if they
are sick, keep them home.

I have been called ‘The Fearless Leader’ of Bethany School. For the past two years, I have lived
each day by the following Bible verse,

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God
goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
